The Importance of Zero VOC Paint

Planning on painting a room? First, make sure the paint has no volatile organic compounds.

When you’re talking about interior paint, one of the big catchphrases these days is “Zero VOC Paint.”

VOCs refers to Volatile Organic Compounds. Without going into a chemistry lesson, these things are not good for people or the environment, so removing them is a good thing.

The problem is that when you add tint to the paint to get a specific color, you put the VOCs right back in it.

There are companies that offer pre-tinted LOW VOC paints in a variety of colors. But remember, if you have the paint pro add anything to alter the color, you’re defeating the purpose.

A true Zero VOC paint will offer a powdered tint that you add yourself so you can choose from a wider variety of colors and still get the health benefits you want.
